House Stonehearth
the Hollow Peaks are ruled by House Stonehearth from the subterranean fortress of Grimreach. Dwarven traditions run deep here — slow to trust, slower to change. Though part of the Crown’s domain, the Peaks act with an independence born of age and craft. Their allegiance is strong, but their patience for human squabbles is thin.

THRANE STONEHEARTH
Thrane Stonehearth is the current Lord of the Hollow Peaks and a symbol of dwarven resilience and pride. A master craftsman and a true leader of his people, Thrane is known for his jovial spirit within Grimreach and his stern, unyielding demeanor to outsiders. His love for his people is second only to his passion for craftsmanship, and he embodies the dwarven ideal of tireless work followed by raucous celebration. Every year, during the grand festival known as the Forgeless Feast, Thrane dons the legendary Stonehearth family armor—a masterwork piece said to have been originally worn by Thraün himself. For the first day of the festival, he wears the armor proudly, celebrating with his people, before returning it to the vaults where he makes his personal improvements each year.
The tradition of passing down armor is a cornerstone of Stonehearth culture. Every lord of the house adds their own craftsmanship to the set, making it stronger and more beautiful with each generation. Thrane's improvements are considered among the finest, reflecting his mastery of the forge and his dedication to his ancestors.
In a bold move for the good of his people, Thrane married Maerva Fairwyn, a human woman from Greenmere. Despite the disapproving glances of dwarven purists, the marriage brought food and trade to Grimreach, staving off hunger and forging a bridge between the two regions. Maerva, affectionately known as The Red Bitch in Grimreach, fit perfectly into dwarven society with her sharp wit and brutal insults—a sign of true kinship among dwarves. Together, Thrane and Maerva have become a beacon of unity and progress in the Hollow Peaks.

MAERVA STONEHEARTH
Maerva Stonehearth, known affectionately as The Red Bitch, is a living testament to dwarven respect for sheer grit and mastery of craft. Though born a Fairwyn of Greenmere, she has become as much a Stonehearth as any dwarf, her presence solidified by her marriage to Thrane Stonehearth—a union born of necessity but forged in genuine kinship. When she first entered Grimreach, her sharp tongue and ruthless wit shocked many, but dwarven culture embraces such boldness. In her first few days, she reportedly insulted more dwarves than most manage in a lifetime, earning the begrudging respect of Grimreach's toughest smiths and merchants.
Her work at the forge is nothing short of exceptional. Over the years, Maerva has not only kept pace with dwarven standards but has innovated in ways that have left her critics silent. Her designs are sharp, her weapons brutal, and her craftsmanship unmistakably Stonehearth. She is a regular participant in the Forgeless Feast, where her smithing is showcased alongside the finest dwarven artisans. Many now seek her for custom work, and her weapons are considered among the finest of their kind—stamped with both the Fairwyn and Stonehearth crests.
Though human, Maerva is beloved in Grimreach, her presence a sign that strength of spirit and skill of hand are what matter most to the Stonehearth clan. Her bond with Thrane is both political and genuine; a partnership rooted in mutual respect and unyielding dedication to their people. To the dwarves, she is proof that even those not born to the mountain can earn their place in its halls.

DAERON STONEHEARTH
Daeron Stonehearth is the proud heir to the Hollow Peaks, a master smith, and a fierce warrior. From a young age, he followed his father Thrane's footsteps, dedicating himself to the forge and the anvil with a diligence unmatched by his peers. Daeron is widely known for his craftsmanship, having forged masterwork weapons before his first century—a feat that placed him among the finest smiths of Grimreach. His warhammer, Spellbreaker, is an imposing weapon, rumored to shatter arcane barriers and resist magical influence, a testament to his distrust of magic.
His disdain for magic is well known, rooted in the belief that stray magics from the Weave Sanctum sometimes disrupt the delicate balance of Grimreach's forgework. Daeron is openly hostile toward elves, convinced that their spy networks and scrying have only served to meddle with dwarven affairs. His paranoia, while criticized by some, is understood by many who share his suspicions of outsiders. To Daeron, only steel and stone are trustworthy; magic is a fickle thing best left to the elves and their ilk.
Despite his temper and sharp tongue, Daeron is considered a strong candidate for leadership. His mastery of the forge and his boldness in battle have made him a symbol of strength in Grimreach. Yet, many whisper that his path to becoming a great lord will only be realized if he learns to temper his rage and see beyond his suspicions.

JARRON STONEHEARTH
Järron Stonehearth is the beating heart of Grimreach's mechanical might. Unlike his kin who find their calling in the forge, Järron spends his days buried in schematics and knee-deep in the ironworks of the Iron Brigade siege engines. His fascination with machinery borders on obsession, and he is known to disappear for days into the workshops, emerging only with new designs or improvements to existing machines. His pride and joy is the Skywarden, Grimreach's fabled Zeppelin-class airship. Järron is considered the lead engineer of the vessel, knowing every bolt, panel, and wire by heart. To many, he is the lifeblood of the project, and some claim that without him, the airship would be nothing more than a dream.
Järron believes that warfare is changing, and that one day, beasts and brute strength will fall to the might of mechanized war machines. His vision for the Skywarden is not just as a defender of Grimreach, but as a symbol of dwarven ingenuity and dominance. His ideas are often labeled as grandiose, but none can deny his brilliance. To many in Grimreach, Järron is seen as a symbol of progress, and his work on the Iron Brigade has already proven its worth in battle simulations.
Though his obsession sometimes concerns his family, Thrane sees it as the spark of genius and gives him full reign over the workshops. Järron is an indispensable part of Stonehearth's military might and may well be the one who brings their technology into a new age.

KAIA STONEHEARTH
Kaia Stonehearth is the eldest daughter of Thrane and the unspoken steward of Grimreach's vast resource network. While her brothers take to the forge and the battlefield, Kaia's domain is the inventory, the ledgers, and the food supplies. She is relentless in her calculations, tracking every scrap of metal, every chunk of coal, and every bushel of grain that enters and exits Grimreach. Many dwarves find her constant bickering over resource consumption tiresome, but none can deny her effectiveness. To Kaia, Grimreach's greatest vulnerability is not its defenses, but its reliance on trade for food and raw materials.
Her constant push for a new faction of dwarves dedicated to farming and foraging has been met with resistance from her family, who prioritize smithing and mining above all. Undeterred, Kaia has taken matters into her own hands, transforming an unfinished corridor deep within Grimreach into a secret vault of emergency supplies. Only she knows its full contents, and she quietly maintains it with the belief that one day, it may be the difference between survival and ruin.
Kaia’s foresight has earned her the nickname The Iron Ledger, a title spoken with both respect and caution. Her presence at council meetings is a stark reminder that Grimreach’s resources are not infinite, and her voice is often the first to call for rationing during lean times. Though she is stern and unyielding, her care for Grimreach is evident in every stroke of her pen and every stack of grain she hoards away for a storm that may one day come.

EMERA STONEHEARTH
Emera Stonehearth is the unpredictable firebrand of the Stonehearth family, both literally and figuratively. Unlike her siblings who take to the forge and the mechanical workshops, Emera was born with a knack for fire magic—a rarity among dwarven kind. Though untrained and wild, her flames manifest at unpredictable moments, sometimes lighting up a room in a brilliant display and other times setting entire stockpiles of resources ablaze. Much to the dismay of her older sister Kaia, whose obsession with resource management is borderline fanatical, Emera's bursts of wild magic are seen as an affront to efficiency. But to her brothers, it's a source of endless amusement, and to her father, Thrane, it is both hilarious and somewhat encouraging.
The Weave Sanctum has attempted to recruit Emera on numerous occasions, eager to harness her raw potential, but Thrane and the rest of the Stonehearth clan have resolutely denied them. The family’s distrust of magic and spellcasters runs deep, and no matter how much pressure the Sanctum applies, Emera remains within the halls of Grimreach. Her father, ever the doting patriarch, often laughs off her explosions, much to Kaia's fury, ensuring Emera feels loved and encouraged despite her lack of control.
Though she is untrained, her wild magic is feared and respected. Among the Stonehearths, she is seen as a symbol of unpredictability and raw power—an embodiment of the chaotic spirit that some say rests deep in the dwarven heart. To Emera, magic is just another tool, albeit one that sometimes refuses to cooperate.

KRANE STONEHEARTH
Krane Stonehearth is the dreamer of the Stonehearth clan, a dwarven soul born with the spirit of an explorer but bound to the walls of Grimreach. Unlike his siblings, who throw themselves into forge work, engineering, and warfare, Krane finds no joy in the sound of hammer on anvil or the glow of molten steel. His heart yearns for the mountains that surround their stronghold, for the valleys and rivers that stretch out far beyond Grimreach’s iron gates. To him, the mountain fortress is both a marvel and a prison—a testament to dwarven craftsmanship, but a cage that prevents him from exploring the world beyond.
Krane is not despised by his family, but his lack of purpose often makes him the odd one out. His siblings and even the workers in Grimreach find his constant daydreaming and wanderlust perplexing, if not pitiful. While most dwarves would be content to remain within the stone walls of their homeland, Krane feels an itch—a desperate pull to go out and explore, to see what lies beyond the peaks of the Hollow Mountains. Many believe it is just a phase, but the light in Krane's eyes says otherwise. There is a fire for adventure burning quietly, waiting for its chance to burst into flame.
One day, he may finally take that first step outside Grimreach, but the world is not as kind as stone walls and dwarven forges. Whether he will be ready for the dangers that lie beyond is a question only time will answer.

THRAUN STONEHEARTH
Thraün Stonehearth is remembered as the father of dwarven civilization in the Hollow Peaks and the founder of Grimreach. Born among wandering dwarven tribes, Thraün saw the fractured state of his people and envisioned a united future. A master craftsman and a natural leader, he gathered the clans under his banner and began the Great Pilgrimage into the mountains. Living off the land and surviving harsh conditions, the dwarves finally came upon the towering peaks of the Hollow Peaks. At the end of a narrow, treacherous path stood a colossal mountain face, untouched and unyielding.
With a grin and a glimmer of mischief, Thraün turned to his followers and famously declared, "Looks like an invitation to me, boys," before driving his legendary warhammer, Forgebreaker, into the mountainside. That first strike broke ground on what would become Grimreach. For a century, dwarves worked tirelessly, carving halls and forges deep into the mountain’s heart. Thraün led his people not only with strength but with craftsmanship, forging the very tools they used to build their new home.
It was during this monumental endeavor that the dwarves discovered a massive, immovable stone deep within the heart of Grimreach—flat as an anvil and unbreakable by any conventional means. This stone became the foundation of the Amber Forge, the legendary heart of dwarven smithing. Thraün lived for centuries, a testament to dwarven resilience, and saw the first weapon forged from the Amber Forge: The Hammer of Dwarvenkind. Days after its completion, Thraün passed peacefully in his sleep, his legacy secured and his people set on a path of greatness. His hammer, Forgebreaker, now rests in Grimreach as a symbol of dwarven unity and perseverance.
Great Powers

THE AMBER FORGE
The Amber Forge of Grimreach is one of the most revered relics of the Hollow Peaks, though its name is only partly accurate. It is not merely a forge, nor an anvil made by dwarven hands, but a vast black stone formation discovered during the earliest excavation of the mountain that would become Grimreach, capital of the dwarves.
Stonehearth tradition claims the first miners found the stone buried deep in the living rock, its upper surface naturally flattened as if shaped by some forgotten force. At first, it was treated as an obstruction. Picks, chisels, wedges, heat, chain teams, and great engines were brought against it. Nothing worked. No tool could dent it. No device could move it. The stone would not break, shift, or yield.
So the dwarves built around it.
Over generations, House Stonehearth transformed the cavern into one of the greatest forge halls in Elaros. Furnaces, platforms, vents, cranes, bellows, and lava channels were raised to serve the immovable stone. In time, the dwarves discovered that a rare mineral called amber ore could awaken the forge. When burned in sealed furnaces, amber ore produced a fierce golden heat unlike common flame. Under that heat, the stone seemed to deepen from within, becoming fit for works beyond ordinary craft.
Upon the Amber Forge, the Stonehearths are said to have shaped legendary weapons, armor, and the hearts of great war engines. Blades that held their edge for generations, hammers that broke fortress gates, and armor that resisted spellcraft all trace their legends back to the black stone beneath Grimreach.
Its age ended when amber ore vanished from the Hollow Peaks. The remaining deposits are now believed to lie only in the crypts of Gor Vathar. Until that ore is recovered, the Amber Forge remains cold, waiting beneath the mountain.
